Less than 20 kilometres from Amsterdam, you will find our cosy three-star hotel in the old centre of the picturesque Zuiderzee town of Edam. The hotel is lodged in five characteristic North Holland houses with a beautiful garden in the middle on the water's edge. The restaurant offers you a good international kitchen. Many famous sights are just a stone's throw from Edam. There are excellent public-transport connections with Amsterdam and other famous places of interest. You are very welcome!!!

Food & beverage

Restaurant "De Fortuna" has a varied selection of surprising and always appealing meat, fish, poultry and game specialities. All the dishes are cooked in the traditional way with the finest ingredients which the various seasons have to offer.

A skilled and extremely talented kitchen team, led by head chef Hans Lemmen, presents an entirely new menu every 6 to 8 weeks. In addition, they create an extra three-course menu which is not on the menu every week.

Room information

The rooms have comfortable, pine furniture and pleasant box-spring beds with very high-quality mattresses. Beautiful hand-made patchwork bedspreads adorn the beds.

Furthermore, in every room you have the facilities to make yourself a nice cup of tea or coffee. And there is a folder for you to look through with all kinds of interesting information.

Most of the rooms look out over the stylish garden or the water of “‘t Boerenverdriet”. In summer you can sit in the garden and enjoy the flowers, the singing birds or the pleasure boats drifting past. Or you can stroll through peaceful Edam or go shopping in the centre of town near by. And if you'd like to explore the surroundings a bit more, you can also rent a bicycle.

Area information

Edam is a town with a rich history which goes all the way back to the 12th Century. And that's clearly visible if you take a walk along the many picturesque canals, little streets, alleys, bridges and gables. The Edam Museum, Kaaswaag, Great Church and the Speeltoren have a lot to tell you. Furthermore, Edam has a thriving centre with various attractive shops and nice outdoor cafes. Edam is above all known for its spherical cheese. Every Wednesday in July and August, an original, folkloristic cheese market is held starting at 10.30.

I lliked the location, its quaintness,the antiquity in the lobby/restaurant area of the hotel. The outdoor courtyard was reaaly nice and right beside a canal.

The restaurant was poorly run. The food was overpriced and poorly prepared. I ordered chicken and it was still raw when I cut into it and the white beans were hard when chewed. I was told they were supposed to have a bite to them and the chicken was cooked. I sent it back because I did not want to chance getting really sick on raw chicken. We had to wait a total of 2 hrs and 25 min for our food

This hotel is as quaint as it gets, excellent location on the canal in the heart of a wonderful town - Edam. The restaurant at the hotel is wonderful, excellent food and service. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and most definitely will return again. Great Brekkie also

Extremely good site, picturesque, good taste decoration very good resrtaurant. Very polite and helpfull personnel

They offered two bably lointed single beds instead of a large double bed. Thus sleaping as couple was uncomfortable.

de gezellige sfeer in het restaurant en in het centrum van Edam. We stelden het ook erg op prijs dat we van de eigenaar een kaart mochten gebruiken om gedurende ons verblijf gratis te kunnen parkeren op het nabij gelegen (betaalde) parkeerterrein.

Zeer net hotel. Goed verzorgd en netjes. Is best een aanrader. Tevens een overheerlijke keuken.

Erg jammer dat de ruimte van het toilet in het restaurant erg klein is. Dit is eigenlijk niet meer van deze tijd.
